Sanctuary of Truth
About This Activity
The Sanctuary of Truth is one of the most extraordinary buildings in Southeast Asia — period. A 105-metre-tall temple entirely constructed from teak wood, carved entirely by hand, with no nails, and still under construction after 45 years. Every surface is intricately carved with Hindu and Buddhist imagery representing the relationship between humanity, earth, and the cosmos. Construction began in 1981 and continues today, meaning you might see craftsmen at work. The sunset here, with the wooden spires against an orange sky, is unforgettable. Located in Naklua — a reminder that the city has more than just bars.
